Underglaze Painting Workshop
An intimate ceramic 絵付け (underglaze painting) workshop with Tamiko Claire, artist and founder of Tamiko Claire Stoneware.
Rooted in a deep appreciation for form, texture, and mindful making, Tamiko invited participants to explor the expressive world of ceramic painting. In this hands-on session, participants decorated a custom ceramic set pre-crafted by Tamiko herself: a beautiful cup and a matching 2-way coaster that thoughtfully doubles as a lid to keep your drinks warm.
Using a variety of tools - including fine brushes for detailed patterns and traditional wide hake brushes for bold, textured strokes - everyone learned the fundamentals of underglaze paintingand brought their own visions to life. Designed for both beginners and those with experience, this workshop invited each artist to slow down, connect, and create with intention.
